Vermont EPSCoR teamed up with the Governor's Institutes of Vermont (GIV) to provide a great summer camp experience for high school students. GIV hosted two institutes in June 2026 that gave 10th, 11th, and 12th graders from across Vermont a chance to strengthen their STEM skills.

Vermont EPSCoR's summer intern program enjoyed a lesson from guest speaker Danbee "Tauntaun" Kim, PhD, a teacher at the Appalachian Institute for Creative Learning and soon-to-be visiting teaching assistant professor in the biology department at University of Denver. Dr. Kim presented a Neuroscience Primer Workshop to SOCKS undergraduate interns.

The award, developed in collaboration between the Graduate College and the Provost's Office at the University of Vermont (UVM), celebrates excellent in the mentoring of PhD students.
