Juniper Lovato, Co-PI of the VT EPSCoR SOCKS award, teaches computer science at the University of Vermont. She's trained as a philosopher and also works on large language models -- she talks about the ethics behind A.I. and the good, bad and ugly of what large language models are learning.

SOCKS Capacity and Social Team member Brennan Dell, PhD presented his research on October 22, 2025 as part of the SOCKS Research Meeting Series. Dr. Dell's presentation, "Fine-Grained Error Analysis in Machine Translation," detailed his research prior to joining the SOCKS team and how it has continued since becoming part of the project.

Fourteen 2025 SOCKS undergraduate interns concluded their exciting 10 week summer experience with a three-day symposium at the University of Vermont's Davis Center. Held on July 28th, 30th, and 31st, the symposium offered the opportunity for each undergraduate intern to present their summer research to their peers and advisors.
