SOCKS Researchers Panelists at IC2S2
The International Conference on Computational Social Science (IC2S2) is a major cornerstone event for researchers interested in the intersection between of computational and social science, offering an excellent opportunity for the SOCKS team to share their research with a wide range of experts from multidisciplinary fields. Seven SOCKS team members presented at the conference held at the University of Pennsylvania, July 17-20, 2024.
SOCKS attendees included postdoctoral researcher Giulio Burgio, PhD; co-PIs Chris Danforth, PhD, Peter Dodds, PhD and Juniper Lovato, PhD; GRAs Aviral Chawla, MS, Mohsen Ghasemizade, MS, and Julia Zimmerman, MS.
Mr. Chawla and Dr. Lovato participated in the oral panel, "Lexical Analysis of Socio-Political Influence on Course Catalogs" and Drs. Danforth, Dodds and Lovato participated in the oral panel "Inferring Collective Behavior Among College Students Using Sleep and Activity Data from Wearable Devices".
IC2S2 alternates every other year between a conference hosted in the United States and one hosted abroad. The event will be held in Sweden in 2025 before returning to the United States in 2026. For a full review of the 2024 conference, visit ic2s2-2024.org.
