Vermont Researchers awarded NSF EPSCoR RII FEC Award

Raju Badireddy, PhD, Assistant Professor of Engineering and Mathematical Sciences at UVM, serves as Principal Investigator with Co-PIs, Tara Kulkarni, PhD, PE, Associate Provost for Research at Norwich University, and Elizabeth Doran, PhD, Assistant Research Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Vermont (UVM), on a new $2.7 million RII FEC (formerly EPSCoR Track-2) grant to study climate-resilient water management.

The project, "Advancing Quality and Climate-Resilient Water Management with Community Partnerships and Enhanced Sensor Network," provides approximately $2.7 million through 2028 to develop affordable water monitoring systems using advanced sensor networks. The project also brings in partners from new Mexico State University and the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

Drs. Kulkarni and Doran were awarded Vermont EPSCoR RII Track-1 funding under the Basin Resilience to Extreme Events (BREE) project from 2016-2021.

Dr. Bernard “Chip” Cole, Vermont State EPSCoR Director, shared that “We are very excited about the recent EPSCoR RII Track-2 FEC award to Drs. Raju Badireddy, Tara Kulkarni and Elizabeth Doran. The project represents a multi-jurisdictional collaboration between Vermont, New Mexico, and South Dakota that builds on critical NSF EPSCoR investments throughout the region.”
