Dr. Trisha Shrum Featured in the Washington Post

Trisha Shrum, PhD, Assistant Professor Community Development and Applied Economics at the University of Vermont and member of the SOCKS Social Team, was featured in The Washington Post on April 29, 2025. Columnist Michael J. Coren spoke with her in the article "Writing to the Future is One of the Most Powerful Climate Actions You Can Take."

Coren touched upon Dr. Shrum's work with DearTomorrow, a nonprofit organization that she co-founded with Jill Kubit. In total, DearTomorrow has helped more than 5,000 people create letters, reflections, and art around the topic of climate. Subsequent studies have supported the hypothesis that writing a letter to the future is a motivating and effective action.
